I thought I would give you an update on where I am with the next book release. Book of Souls has been delayed. Health concerns of my editor and a recent death in the family has pushed the release date back to the first week of August or sooner. I hope you understand.
Being an independent, there are so many factors to deal with regarding a book release. One obviously is the author. I don’t release unless I feel it’s better than the book before. Candle was extraordinary; I want extraordinary plus for Book of Souls. Two is the editing. My editor has more than commas to deal with. I’ve written and published twenty-seven books in this series (novellas included in the count). There is a lot to keep track of. When you add in that The Hauntings of Cold Creek Hollow was released back in January 2012, The Red Pen has a lot of areas to check. Character development, language, did the author stroll away from the plot in a flight of fancy while craving bacon? You know, normal stuff.
We started in 2012 and have learned a lot of things along the way. We don’t always catch everything, but we try. I have learned a lot since Mia was waiting for Burt and Mike alongside the highway. From the outset of the Haunted Series, I wanted a strong female character, one with extraordinary abilities but normal everyday faults. Mia was created. She is unlike anyone I have met and as far away from me physically as possible. She is unique. I wanted to write about paranormal things beyond ghosts. Things that scare us aren’t always the wisps of disturbed ether. And I wanted to make the books entertaining. I want to take you away from the present and give you a break from the stress of existing in this world.
So please forgive me for this delay. I’m confident you’ll find Book of Souls entertaining when it arrives.
I’m off to see if it’s a phantom smell or is someone frying bacon? Love, Alexie
