Hello, everyone, I am Aaron the Webguy. It's kind of an on-the-nose title given to me by Alexie, but I think it suits me just fine. I am responsible for making sure the website doesn't explode (which it totally can) each and every day; also, keeping the blog updated on a weekly basis; making sure the links work; and the site looks presentable to all her readers and fans. Additionally, I have certain editorial powers, such as this promise I am making to you all right now that clicking the Read More button will be guaranteed to contain a picture of a very cute puppy.
Now that I have your attention, because we all should be audibly saying "Awwwwwwww," I will tell everyone a little bit more about myself. I am a college graduate of Psychology from a very prestigious university that, while I won't namedrop, every student used its initials to call it,"U Can't Finish." But finish I did in a record five plus years that were spent studying very hard and certainly not partying and playing video games instead of going to class. My degree was not in web design, which some of you I am sure can tell, but I'd like to think I made this site a nice little home for Alexie Aaron.
OK, truth time everyone. I am sure it is very apparent at this point, I tend to be a little sarcastic and glib at times which I must believe might be influenced by a certain someone. Alexie Aaron, Aaron the Webguy, can you see what she did there? Yes, I indeed am her son; a fact revealed to me after a duel of sorts after which I yelled, "No, that's impossible!" In all seriousness, I am very proud to be related to this amazing author and daily I thank the powers that be that she is blessed with her talent.
Personally, my favorite aspect of her writing is how the dialogue flows very naturally, like how I believe people actually speak to one another. I tend to write in a conversational tone, and I look at Alexie's work as an inspiration for anything I do in terms of writing. Though most of my "writing" is limited to instant messages and emails in which I tend to use all capital letters for CERTAIN words of emphasis. When I showed a forum post to The Red Pen once for spelling corrections, she nearly fainted at the very notion of my complete disregard for the Oxford English...whatever standard it's called.
Also, this just so happens to be my face on this cover... sort of! In an effort to make me look menacing, as per the character, I was told during the photo-shoot that I should look the part which meant, sadly, none of my signature smile or THIS was allowed. Through a complex photo-shopping session, my features were changed to make me appear much less handsome than in reality (Ladies...). I can only assume this was to prevent the legions of new found female fans from tracking me down, for at the moment I am hard at work at Alexieaaron.com. Though my likes are PC gaming, a sense of humor, creating the Magnetic Fields cover songs, and long walks on the beach at night. Just saying! ;)
Thank you all for reading my ramblings put to page, and I want to remind everyone that they can reach me about website matters via the contact page or the comments below. I am eager to hear from everyone and don't mind constructive criticism about the website for I am still very much learning, and I want this site to be awesome for everyone who comes to visit. We wanted to give Alexie more time working on her current book, but expect that we will be returning to our normally scheduled Alexie Aaron written blog post next week.
P.S.
Can you P.S. a blog post? Not sure on that yet.
P.P.S.
It is very well possible, I will be found stabbed by a Red Pen-like instrument in the near future, so here's hoping that sending this to the editor goes well!
