I’ve just finished writing Unforgivable Cin: An Opera in Three Acts. I had written a first, second and third draft of this mystery book before I felt it was ready to send to my new editor yesterday afternoon. I’m using two editors now, so I can get quality books to you readers sooner, one for the Haunted Series and one for the Cin Fin-Lathen Mysteries. The Red Pen is nearing the end of her edit of the 16th Haunted Series novel The Old House, and I expect to release it in a few weeks. One would think that this author would be dancing around… Wrong. Why? Because I have trouble letting go.

Hello all, it's me Aaron the Webguy taking over Alexie's blog post for this week. Alexie Aaron is currently (figuratively) chained to her desk writing. Since she tends to be a very busy person, writing at what I can only describe as a frantic but deliberate pace, I asked if I could help fill in for her now and then. So with that thought in mind, I present to you Aaron's Ramblings, a blog posting of my very own that might stray from the beaten path a little bit. Though, I promise that it will always be in the same wheelhouse as Alexie's work. All manner of things supernatural, mysterious, or just something creative with deep characters, they are all fair game. So, if you are interested in checking out something new, or just kind enough to listen to my ramblings, please join me for what I hope will be a fun read.
Read MoreDo You Believe?
Do you believe in ghosts? is a frequently asked question. Most people do. Some will tell you why with a detailed description of the event that convinced them. It will be told with as much enthusiasm as warranted by the event. But others won’t. Why? It’s because the haunt is private. These kinds of haunts are exactly as labeled, private. I’ve experienced my fair share of paranormal events. One touched me so deeply that I will only tell a select few. It isn’t that I doubt the legitimacy of the event, it’s because it affected me in such a personal way that I’d rather keep it private.

Happy second weekend in July! I love July because there is so much to do. Like tonight, I’ll be watching Tonic and Toad –weather permitting – at River Edge Park in Aurora, IL. I’ve been lucky to see Tonic before in concert, but this is my first time seeing Toad the Wet Sprocket, sigh. Okay, enough about me. This post is about you, the readers of the Haunted Series.

It’s interesting to try to write an update without spoilers, but I’m going to give it a try. Last Saturday I finished the first draft of The Old House. Much to my surprise, it came in pre-edit at the largest word count I’ve written in a single book. I suspect there may be an overabundance of words like perhaps, several toos that should be two, and a put-the-book-in-the-freezer Joey moment. Why the freezer? Because that’s what happens when I stay true to the characters.

Aaron the Webguy here to give some updates on all things Alexie Aaron. The reason for me talking instead of Alexie is that she is neck deep in the waters of writing currently. For those who haven't heard the news...
...has been released! This is Alexie's longest Haunted Series novel to date, and yet, she isn't resting on her laurels at all. What I mean to say is, she is nearing completion of the first draft of her next book, the 16th novel of the Haunted Series! "Holy smokes! How does she do it?" you might ask yourself. Well, first off, she loves writing these books and living in the world that she creates. Alexie wakes up around the time that roosters should be crowing to get a head start on her writing time. Many times I would wake up and find her already spouting, "3000 more words!" before disappearing back to her writer's corner to add to the count. We had a little podcast where she told us a little about her process, and here is the YouTube embed for those who want to hear from the woman herself (plus some other awesome guy who is far too humble to brag about his part in it.) > >
Secondly, she is able to write and complete the books so quickly because of the support she gets from the whole team. The Red Pen doubles her workload, being both the developmental editor and our artwork department. Personally, I think the Never Forget book cover was her best work to date. Without The Red Pen's talent we would all be looking at my MSPaint abominations. She is a busy woman, and she still got Alexie's latest to you all ahead of schedule.
The Red Pen isn't the only member of the team doing their very best to get the book out there. The Beta Reader got the book on a Saturday, I believe, and returned with his notes... that very same Saturday evening. The man reads faster than Superman. The Beta Reader dives in head first and makes it so that everyone gets to enjoy the books mere days after he is presented with them.
And finally and most importantly, she has the support of her readers. I know we have gushed on the subject of her readers before, but it is only because we can't believe how supportive you all are. Alexie often holds out her iPad and says to me, "Look what this person said on Facebook!" As her son, I am genuinely grateful to all of her readers because it is all of you that make it possible for her to do her dream job every day. All of us at Team Alexie couldn't do it without the support of all of you, so thanks again!
Enough mushy stuff already! Oh I guess I, Aaron the Webguy, do some stuff around here as well. Mainly fixing things I should have fixed ages ago, like making sure Sand Trap's Audiobook Link wasn't hidden in a blog post. I also appreciate that Alexie got me to work on original music for both Wages of Cin and Never Forget. Made me dust off my recording software and helped bring out my creative side again. Here are both of the songs again if anyone wants a listen:
We have branched out a lot from just a website where you can see Alexie Aaron's books. My question for all of you is, is there anything you would like to see more of on the site? More YouTube videos, songs, or podcasts perhaps? Let us know in the comments, and I hope you all are enjoying the new book and staying out of the summer heat.
P.S The book that started it all is on Amazon countdown this weekend and here is a picture link below.
Never Forget
It’s here! Never Forget the 15th novel of the Haunted Series has been released! The beta reader gave his blessing, and I uploaded the ebook to Amazon and Barnes and Noble this evening, June 21st, 2015. I hope to see it available late tonight or tomorrow. In honor of this release, The Hauntings of Cold Creek Hollow will go on Countdown this Friday, June 26th, 2015 for $.99 and £.99. This would be an excellent time for possible new readers to pick up a copy of the first book of the series. That’s not all. The Webguy has consented to treat us with a song from Murphy to Mia called “Never Forget." Click read more for links to Amazon and YouTube.

June 21st is the official first day of summer, the summer solstice for us in the Northern hemisphere. It brings back memories of childhood vacations, swimming in pools, tanning at the beach and some of the best music written blaring from radios, boomboxes and outdoor concert stages. This year I am looking forward to summer because in the first official week, I will release Never Forget.
