Just last weekend my editor and I came across this house. I expect some of you would cringe when looking at it while others would be packing up their gear waiting for me to mention where it is. The Red Pen saw it as a photo opportunity. I saw it as an object of inspiration. We both saw it as a mystery to be solved. Why? It’s because this house contains something very valuable.

Salutations all, Aaron the Webguy here with another brief post. "Why a brief post again?" you might ask. Well, because I am heading out for the weekend to visit some relatives. I haven't seen my grandmother in a long time, so I've got about a decade's worth of cheek pinches ahead of me. She is such an amazing woman who hasn't missed a single birthday since I was born, and I look forward to seeing her.
But enough about me, I know you all are interested in some updates on how Alexie's writing is going. The answer to that question is that she is hard at work on the next haunted series novel, though it is in the very early stages. I tried using a bull whip to encourage her to write faster, but she still has the power to ground me, so I got trumped!
The Red Pen is editing her heart out on the new Cin Fin-Lathen Mystery: The Wages of Sin. You might have noticed my links to the Cin Fin-Lathen Mysteries bundle sprinkled into most of the recent posts. I have been assured by Alexie that newcomers to the series don't have to have read the earlier books to enjoy the story. Catching up with the previous books will just allow for better context to the characters and setting.
As for me the Webguy, I have some news to be shared at a later date about new features to Alexieaaron.com, but I have to watch myself with the cart before the horse etc... Needless to say, I am excited about them and plan on getting to work after my weekend traveling. So unless folks in the comments want to discuss my next Dungeons and Dragons adventure... I hope everyone has a great weekend.
PEEPs Spotlight - Janice Ivy
Jan and I have been friends since we reacquainted ourselves on the now defunct Slush Pile Reader. I had previously seen her on the forums of HarperCollin’s Authonomy. She handled the nice and not-so-nice authors with wit and compassion. This impressed me. I think that she and I gelled over our appreciation for mystery stories with dominant, flawed heroines and our love of writer’s tags. Jan is the first person who mentioned that I should publish my work as ebooks on Amazon so that others could read them - she had already entered that area and had done quite well. I thought that if she was brave enough to face the public, then I better pull it together and follow in her footsteps. Starting out on your own is scary, but when you have a supportive friend like Jan, it’s not too bad.
Jan, like me, is a writer of multiple genres. I thought it might be interesting to ask her a few questions so that all of us could get to know her better.

Read MoreBig Updates!
NOLA is in the hands of the beta reader. Knock on wood, I’ll be soon releasing the 14th novel of the “Haunted Series.” It was a fun book to research and write, and I hope you enjoy it. We will announce the release on this website first and make it easy for you to click through to Amazon to purchase it. (When you click through, it helps us to subsidize the website.)
Sand Trap has gone through another whole edit and has been released as a paperback.

The other day I was waiting in line at Target when a pair of strong hands turned me sideways and pointed something out to me on the endcap of the adjoining aisle. There, sitting in a colorful Easter-wrapped package, were four peeps stabbed through the heart (and out the behind) on a pristine white stick! Oh the inhumanity (more correctly the inpeepwomanity)!

The beta reader I use for the “Haunted Series” is local and handy. He drops whatever he is reading at the time and picks up my manuscript. He sits there with colorful Post-It flags and a blue pen. Does he catch everything? No, but since I’m the queen of typos and the empress of homophones, he has an enormous task ahead of him.
